Try and see as if there are riddles all around us waiting to be discovered.
While waiting for a bank consultant to be available, I sat in the guest lounge. The seats provided were comfortable, and I must say unexpectedly so too. I was looking around aimlessly, and an urge to write came upon me. I’m sure most of you have experienced this.
I only had my phone, so while I took out my iPhone, I looked around searching through my eyes for what to write about. So what did I see?
It is crucial that you take notice of how I specified the method I use to find my subject. When looking for a story to write about through past events or possible futures, it takes away attention to your presence. Being aware of my surroundings brought awareness to details that are easily missed and overlooked.
As my eyes searched, I noticed how a piece of furniture adjacent to me was just seating there in this big room with quite some people standing around waiting. It was vacant. I narrowed my attention to the form and function of the furniture to find relationships between it and me to help piece a riddle together.
To put it plainly, every one of us is a riddle waiting to be discovered.
A riddle is like a speech puzzle. You are given all of the pieces (in this case are words) to help you discover the hidden meaning.
The great thing about riddles is they can be however the reader, being you, perceive them to be.
You may see it as beautiful while others find it quite the opposite. However it is received, it allows imagination and differences in personalities to come out. Remember, no one way of thinking is the same. That is the great thing about being an individual.
Having found what to write about I played with the idea of making the riddle appear as if I am writing about a woman. Why a woman?
Before I explain, what was your answer to the question at the end of the riddle? I am curious to know, so if you don’t mind, please share it with me.
A woman is kind. A woman is caring. How you would describe a woman is entirely up to you as not all would agree with my perception of a woman. To portray something beautiful, who better than women to best fit this narrative.
