Being honest with oneself is more difficult than said – I have taken for granted everything around me.
How much of that statement resonate with you? Have you thought about it honestly?
You may be thinking, I haven’t taken everything for granted, but maybe for some things, I have.
This is one of the purposes of why I am writing this, to share what I find to be of importance to each and everyone to be aware of. Not all would agree with what I have to share, but I believe it would resonate with a few.
When you notice to stop and describe your surroundings, be astonished to realize how fortunate we really are but lack the presence to recognize it.
For example, right now describe in two or three sentences your emotional response to the environment you are currently in.
To do this, you will have to bring your attention to the present moment where you are right now.
How does that feel? Were you able to describe it in a way that someone else would be able to sense what you felt if you read out to them?
It is difficult if you are honest because words by themselves are not able to emit the feelings that were felt when a place, person, or object is described.
This leads me to explain the reason why I enjoy, or should I say find great interest in writing about specific moments, objects, or persons. To write in a format that is able to lead the reader towards their own expression of the text to what I am describing is in a way to bring their attention to the now. Even while writing this post my attention is directed towards one thing, the purpose of this post.
Now, think back to the statement earlier on in this post, have you taken everything for granted?
Conclusion
Ask yourself what you can do to show more appreciation.
It may be as simple as showing acknowledgment. If it’s a person, let them know. If it’s an object, take a moment to admire how it has helped you. And, if it is a moment that has passed, bring it to the present and allow it to be felt by letting it flow through you once more. But this time pay attention to as many details as you can describe.
